Community Teams

Local Area Coordinators (Swansea)

Local Area Coordinators can help you find advice and support in your community.

You can get in touch by clicking on the area that you live in.

Local Area Coordinators (Neath Port Talbot)

Our Local Area Coordinators help people to avoid reaching a crisis in their life or to help people to recover if a crisis has already happened. We work with you and your family to help you realise a better life.

The support is free. There are no assessments or referral process and no time limits.

Swansea Community Learning Disability Team

The Swansea Community Learning Disability Team works with adults from the Swansea area who have a learning disability.

The team are part of the community support team, and work with care managers.

Peer Support and Support Groups

Gig Buddies Cymru

Gig Buddies Cymru is a befriending scheme that matches people with a learning disability in Wales with a volunteer who shares the same interests, so they can go to gigs and other events together.

Mixtup

A youth club in Swansea for 11-25 year olds with mixed abilities.

Mixtup also provide opportunities for trips, activities and support for members. They help young people to have fund, make friends, try new activities and to grow in confidence and self-esteem, all in a safe and stimulating setting.

Interplay

Interplay’s Enabled Project for 18-25 year olds supports young people to gain independence skills and confidence to face the challenges of adult life.

Your Scene

Your Scene provide safe inclusive social activities for adults with learning disabilities, their friends, family and carers. Covering Neath Port Talbot and surrounding areas. You do not need to live in Neath Port Talbot to attend any of their events.

Your Voice Advocacy

Your Voice Advocacy is an organisation that provides independent advocacy for people with disabilities across the areas of Neath Port Talbot and Swansea in South Wales.

Advocacy is about you and your rights. Advocacy makes sure you are listened to. 

Mencap- know your rights

Mencap provide free legal toolkits to support people with a learning disability to access services in Wales.

These include housing, education, health and social care and more.

These guides aim to give you peace of mind by offering clear and practical advice.

These toolkits were produced by Mencap Cymru and the School of Law & Politics, Cardiff University.

The Wales Learning Disability Helpline work closely with Advicelink Cymru for quality assured advice on:

  • benefits
  • debt
  • money issues
  • employment
  • education
  • housing
  • immigration
  • discrimination problems.

The Wales Learning Disability Helpline can make a referral for you, or you can call Advicelink Cymru on 03444 77 20 20.

Advicelink Cymru is delivered by Citizens Advice and partners. It is available Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm (closed on bank holidays).

All Wales People First

All Wales People First is the united voice of self-advocacy groups and people with learning disabilities in Wales.
All Wales People First is an organisation for, and led by men and women with a learning disability. It is unique in Wales in that it is the only national member-led organisation that represents the voice of men and women with a learning disability.
